Yanique’s journey began as a Registered Nurse. During this time, she dedicated herself to the role, focusing on travel nursing for six of those years. Her career was primarily in adult cardiac step-down intermediate critical care, a field that honed her skills in caring for critically ill patients. While she found fulfillment in geriatric nursing, her heart was always drawn to caring for women and babies.
Like many, the pandemic brought unexpected changes to Yanique’s life. She found herself working as a doula, a role that ignited a new passion for midwifery. As a doula, she learned the art of listening and supporting birthing individuals, helping them achieve their ideal birth experiences. This experience, along with a deep sense of purpose, led Yanique to Frontier Nursing University, where she graduated in September 2023 and began her journey as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
The lack of meaningful care in hospital-based births prompted Yanique to transition to out-of-hospital settings, focusing on home births where building relationships and shared decision-making are central. She resonates deeply with the holistic approach of midwifery, which aligns naturally with her lifestyle. Yanique’s passion for fitness and exercise motivated her to obtain certification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist, learning techniques to optimize pregnancy and postnatal health.
